I have created this blog to help share and document my progress (and of course process) as I journey through my Senior Project at the University of Maine at Augusta. I plan to post images of my work as I go, as well as issues, thoughts, questions, or other things that may arise as I explore my ideas. Let the journey begin!

Work in Progress #2
Depression
The 4th stage of greif is Depression. I know I am going out of order, but I need more thought on the other stages! This is in it's early phases, and will still take more work from here. Atleast it has started!
I think both the color palette and the display (whether intentional or not) is effective. From the pic, it looks almost like its sagging down lifelessly. I think not having it taut really aids this piece. I'd keep that very much in mind in terms of the display of the others!
Tiffany, this is beautiful. I definitely feel a lot of dark, deep emotion oozing out of this piece. I think it is especially helpful where it is slightly larger at the top than it is at the bottom, I feel it directs my eye downward, which is also part of the feeling of depression. I know this piece has just begun but I feel it is becoming effective already.

ReplyDeleteIt may be time to push one of the works further. Tearing, cutting and putting it back together again, overlays etc. Pursue the canvas as an object...
ReplyDeleteThank you everyone for the comments!
ReplyDeleteKaren - I posted a new artist statement that gives you an idea of where my new direction is going. Plenty of tearing and sewing involved :)
